THE LAST DOSE (CERTAINLY NOT THE LAST SUPPER)
THE LAST DOSE (CERTAINLY NOT THE LAST
SUPPER)
This is a
hastily written post so sponsorship for
charity for this one. Time is 18:37 on September 5.
In exactly
one hour twenty three minutes from now, I shall, as instructed by the APN (not
sure what this is but it refers to a specialist nurse or something) this
morning, do the following:-
1) Take off my roti-grotine patch which
supply my body with bromocriptine, a dopamine agonist (will hyperlink this with
explanatory notes next time). What a waste! This piece is supposed to last for
24 hours and I had replaced it only this morning at 9am.
2) Take my last supper………NO, NO, NO~ my
last dose of mardopar (the artificial dopamine needed to replace what my crazy
brain has refused to manufacture).
3) DO NOT, SHE REPEATED, DO NOT TAKE ANY
MORE PD-RELATED MEDICATION UNTIL YOU RECEIVE THE GO AHEAD AT THE LABORATORY.
YOU MUST BE THERE AT 8.30 SHARP.
SURRENDER YOUR MEDICATION AND THE NURSE ON DUTY WILL GIVEN YOU A DOSAGE AT THE
RIGHT TIME!
Yes, Madam. Er, is that am or pm? I was ignored.
4) Bring along a sweater as the
laboratory where the monitoring will take place can be pretty cold.
I had promised
myself not to cheat – so I will not take it together with COMTAN or SELEGINE
(which are supposed to prolong the efficacy of the mardopar by about 30%.
Normally, they are taken with the first
and third dose only.)
Instruction
from the son who will accompany me tomorrow:-
Be cool. Be calm. You can do it. Your body will not feel the
same but you can do it, dad! We will leave at exactly 7.50 .
Yes, Sir. I
wanted to ask the same question, “Er, is that am or pm?” But didn’t. The APN, I
am sure, has conspired with him to ignore silly questions.
Instruction
from the son to his brother who is part of the contingency plan if things do
not go as planned – let us not go there. I solemnly promise to be on my best
behavior.
By the time
this is published in my blog and posted
on Facebook, the 1 hour 23 minutes could be over. It is barely 2.5 hours since
my last dose and I am in zombie mode. 12 hours…….sigh
